write a 4-full page narrative (not including reference page) consisting of the review of the literature, justification of your study, and three hypotheses.

Christopher R. Teeple

Using your topic of interest (Mental health), write a 4-full page narrative (not including reference page) consisting of the review of the literature, justification of your study, and three hypotheses. The submission can be made under Assignment folder. The written review of literature presents an argument that justifies your choice of topic and the way you have chosen to address it. Begin the review with the most general aspects of your topic (descriiption of independent and dependent variables, relationship between the variables, etc) and gradually narrow it until it implies your specific research questions and hypotheses. Define any central terms as you introduce them. Provide the general context for the proposed study. This can be done in terms of a general overview of the field, with a descriiption of a classic study (or studies), or a theory to be tested.
Your submissions will be evaluated through Turnitin first for possible plagiarism, so please upload a single Word or PDF document on Canvas. Because the paper will be checked through the plagiarism software, if the paper is sent via email for any reason (e.g., you submitted the wrong version on Canvas, you missed the submission window by one minute), 5 points will be deducted from your paper grade automatically. Double or triple check, if needed, to make sure that you are submitting the correct document.
Contents: Below are some critical components of your literature review. You do not have to organize your paper in this order.
1. A summary and review of literature (7): In this assignment, include at least 5 academic journal articles. Critically evaluate the current research to provide specific reasons why your study will make a contribution to the literature. It may involve (a) describing some weakness in previously used methods, (b) building on or extending previous research, (c) showing how new knowledge will help theoretically or practically, and/or (d) replicating previous research in different groups (men vs. women, age groups, race groups, etc).
2. Rational for the proposed hypotheses (10): This task is to determine what general conclusions are drawn from the literature. If the majority of studies support the same or similar nature or direction of the relationship, it can be drawn more confidently than if the evidence is mixed. When there is mixed evidence, be sure to provide explanations why that may be. A good way to know if you succeeded here is that the reader is able to guess your hypotheses based on reading your ‘rationale.’
3. Hypotheses (5): This section usually comes at the end of your literature review (but doesn’t have to). Based on the review of studies, you must specify at lease three hypotheses, all related to your one primary research question. State your hypotheses clearly. If your proposal / review suggests directional hypotheses (positive or negative relationship), write them this way.
4. Reference (5): Use in-text and works cited page in ASA style. 5 academic journal articles
5. Format (3): 1-inch margin, 12 font Times New Roman, double-spaced, 4 full pages
