The issue at hand:
-A contractor conducted a field review (surveyed the existing street light pole condition) and determined that some of the existing street light equipment (i.e light fixture housings, lamps, banded signs, mounting hardware and etc…) look’s good enough to be reused and reinstalled on NEW street light poles.
Per the contract agreement;
1. All new street light pole requires all new street light pole equipment (i.e light fixture housings, lamps, banded signs, mounting hardware and etc…). However, our public works director does not know how to tell the contractor NO, so he pretty much advised the contractor that if “the street light pole is deemed to be in great condition, they may reuse the existing street light pole equipment on NEW street light poles, with the condition that the contractor would just need to (1). Certify that the street light pole equipment is in great condition, (2). The contractor must provide a new 10 warranty for the reuse of existing street light pole equipment and (3). Provide a work plan (inspection process)”.
