1. (Lauren) …. 3 sources related to family-centered health promotion
Planned Parenthood
Planned Parenthood is a great educational website that can help women plan for a child on the way. From my own research, Planned Parenthood offers a family planning benefit program that can help cover certain services for expectant mothers as well as provide a confidential source. Planned Parenthood can also help many women by giving them a safe place to speak to a HCW. This could definitely help prevent some illnesses or injuries for women who do not have a safe space to go while pregnant. Planned Parenthood can also help by preventing unintended pregnancies by providing no-cost contraception (Peipert et al., 2012).
Healthy Children
This website is a wonderful source for educational resources on promoting good hygiene in childcare. On the webpage, you can also click all different health issues and they will provide some insight and other articles, or links related to the information you’re searching for. This website is also backed by the American Academy of Pediatrics which in my opinion makes it a reliable and trustworthy source for parents or guardians to use with confidence. This website helps promote healthy living, safety & prevention, family life, and much more. I believe that this website can effectively make a change in someone’s life thereby helping to prevent an illness or injury and promoting health.
CDC – Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
I feel like this website is critical especially during this COVID-19 pandemic on helping to prevent illness and promoting health. This website is not only a great resource for COVID but also for any other insight that you need for other healthcare information. Right now, the website is focusing on the delta variant and how to prevent the spread and provides a lot of information about the vaccine, masks, cleaning of your home, hand washing, and many more topics. With many cases and data to back this information, I think this website is a great source for family planning, health promotion, and preventing the spread of illness. You can also use this website to work better with families by trying to stop any spread of misinformation.

Child Welfare-
The child welfare website is a great resource to help promote the safety and well-being of children and to learn ways to help strengthen family bonds. This organization supports families in decision-making to improve family needs to provide the best care for their children and to develop a plan for services that may be needed. This site offers numerous resources related to marriage, parenting, preventing child abuse, child neglect, and adoption. They offer a live chat for family support and have prominent links to report abuse, neglect and help with a personal situation.
Mouth Healthy-
The mouth healthy website is backed by the American Dental Association. It provides educational information on healthy teeth through different stages of life. It begins with dental care during pregnancy, tips for parents to keep their child’s teeth healthy, good habits for teens, and maintenance for healthy adult teeth. There are many links to click on to find information related to different topics such as thumb sucking, nutrition, and finding a dentist. Information is also provided for ways to get involved in the community to promote education and provide free dental services. A program called Give Kids a Smile takes place every February. Through Give Kids A Smile, children who may not have access to dental care can receive free oral health education, screenings, preventive care, and/or treatment from volunteer dentists and other volunteer dental professionals.
Autism Speaks-
The autism speaks website is an excellent source of information about autism and the many subtypes of this condition. According to the Centers for Disease Control, autism affects an estimated 1 in 54 children in the United States today. This educational website provides a live chat to specially trained team members to help families find information, tools, and resources for support and to learn about caring for someone who is autistic. Information is available to search for live or virtual events in your community and a listing of service providers in your area. This website provides information to help recognize the early signs of autism to determine if a developmental screening is needed for further evaluation. Early intervention is important and can make a lifetime of difference in a child’s development.

1-National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP). CDC is a United State federal agency that functions under the Department of Health and Human Services. Their purpose is to protect American’s health and safety by promoting the prevention of disease. The national center for disease control (CDC) has many different health areas, one of the areas is to help children and adolescents develop healthy habits. For CDC education and prevention is their priority and when they focus on building good healthy habits in children, they are trying to guarantee healthy adults.
2- The Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) from the U.S Department of Agriculture has a program that their main goal is to improve the health and well-being of American families by promoting dietary counseling that fulfills the people’s nutrition needs. The FNS has a combined professional that works together in achieving their common goal, some of the professionals are nutritionists, dietitians, public health experts, economists, policy advisors, etc. They concentrate on three main things: serving as a federal authority on evidence-based food, nutrition, and economic analysis of policy and programs, translate science into nutrition guidance, and creating a national communication science-based message that would help Americans’ family’s knowledge on their dietary and economic choices and behaviors.
3-The tobacco cessation service from the State of Florida is a program that offers free guidance and therapy for Florida residents that want to stop smoking. Their goal is to help people to stop smoking by combining counseling and nicotine replacement therapies for free. Florida families can get help on tobacco cessation from the Florida health department by phone, through their website, and in person. The Florida Smoking cessation program helped reduce tobacco use from 21% in 2006 to 14.8 % in 2019 while tobacco-related diseases are reduced across the state.
