I’m working on a writing Presentation and need support to help me study.IntroWe are conducting more ethnographic research (Links to an external site.)!Instead of just analyzing our own cultural ideas, values, and behaviors, we are going to get out and learn about what others think!
Interview Analysis 2 Question: What state or federal policy, catastrophic event effecting the nation, or Social Justice Movement has had the biggest impact on ICC in that state/America, in the past 5 years? How has it impacted how you communicate with people who are culturally different?
Recall that you want to be as specific as possible!Don’t just say “Black Lives Matter” – tell me what incident or protest really turned things around in your eyes. (The death of Breonna Taylor, for example? Or the fact that no one was charged for causing Ms. Taylor’s death. (Links to an external site.)
What counts?Policies/Politics/Laws/Court Cases that have had a cultural impact; that impact on specific cultures could be positive or negative in your eyes, thats what you need to explain (positive or negative are subjective terms, I know) – like the name change of the Cleveland Indians (Links to an external site.) (positive); the voting laws recently passed in Georgia (Links to an external site.) (many see these as negative). Or maybe the 2020 Presidential Election.
Catastrophic events/Natural Disasters/Mass Shootings that have had an impact on certain cultural groups/ICC – like COVID; but get specific – what about COVID? Maybe the unsafe conditions essential workers (disproportionately minority groups) endured; or maybe how communities of color have a harder time getting the vaccine. Or, the Capitol Riots of 1/6/2021. Or shootings of 6 Asian women in Georgia last month. But, what about these events impacts ICC???
Social Justice Movements like protests and social media campaigns… but again, get specific, and be able to explain HOW and WHY this matters for ICC!
What to doGo out and ask three people how they would answer this question, and if they agree. Interview the same people as last time, or people who will be interesting to talk to, who represent a range of ages, professions, and cultures.

Instructions Reach out to your interviewees and request a 30-60 minute phone or in person, it could literally be anyone who can throw out answers to what you need and then use it from there, or create your own and pretend you interviewed people
Give them an overview of your assignment, your ideas for what you chose as your artifact, and let them know you will not use any personal information about them in your final product.
Come up with questions to ask, and email them to your interviewees at least 24 hours before the appointment so they can marinate on the questions before you ask them; this is also your way to confirm the appointment. Ask for permission to record
Take notes
Summarize your notes
Repeat for each interview
Repeat for yourself
Analyze all responses for similarities and differences
Start outlining your ideas
Present a summary of what you learned are four state or federal policy has had the biggest impact on ICC in that state/America in the past 5 years, based on your opinion and the data from your interviews. Present your ideas in a Powerpoint slide deck, or other tool, that you can convert to PDF for submission.
You must include at least 10 slides, no more than 20Review the feedback from the first Interview Analysis
At least 9 slides should have more text content that images (but image slides are also welcome!)These slides should unpack your interviews and discuss what they imply about culture/ICC in the past 10 years. Think of each slide like a paragraph in an essay, use complete sentences, but bullet out your ideas rather than writing full paragraphs
one slide as your “intro” where you state your research question and preview your main points
one slide describing your methods for conducting this research, and info about your participants and why you chose to talk to them (see item 3 below)
one slide with all the interview questions you asked
one slide where you summarize each interviewees main response points (3 slides total)
one about your own answer to the question
plus one to summarize all the over-arching themes and your “conclusion”
bonus slide? What did you learn about ICC during this assignment and course?
You must bold your use of at least 10 intercultural terms that you can find; weave these terms into your ideas and connect them to what your participants share
You must share the demographics of who you interviewed and why (but use pseudonyms; how do they represent a diverse sample), how many questions you asked, how many pages of notes you typed up, and how long each interview lasted.
You must include a reference slide where you cite any interview, as well as other sources, in APA
After your reference slide, include a slide with a screen shot of your notes (from a google, word, pages doc) as evidence of all your hard work (no need for the audio recording)
Possible Questions The overarching question of your interviews is, What state or federal policy has had the biggest impact on ICC in that state/America in the past 5 years?Here are some questions that might help you get your interviewees to answer the question and explain why:What events of the past 5 years stick out to you the most, why?
What event do you think have had an impact on communities of color? Good or bad.
What event do you think have had an impact on communities in power? Good or bad.
What role did this event play in how you see minority and majority group members communicating?
