Thinking about your life experiences, consider the ways that you have been socialized. Explain how the mass media has been an agent of socialization in your life. Thinking through your life course, select an example of mass media that you can argue has been an agent of socialization in your life (i.e. Harry Potter book series, Rugrats (tv show), The Lego Movie, etc.)1. You will define what socialization and agents of socialization are, summarize your example, and analyze your example using socialization concepts (norms, values, beliefs, life course stage). The paper will end with your conclusions about what this assignment has taught you about socialization. Write a paper, maximum of 2 pages (typed and double spaced), using the following instructions: 1.First, definesocialization and agents of socialization. 2.Brieflysummarize the example of mass media (as an agent of socialization) that you wish to use. [You must provide the full citation of this source.] 3.Provide your analysisof how this example of mass media is an agent of socialization. Explain why this form of media is an agent of socialization, and how it socialized you. a.Identifywhat values, norms, or beliefs of the culture it encouraged? Be specific. b.Identifyduring what life stage the socialization occurred in, and if you think this agent of socialization had a greater (or lesser) impact upon your socialization, than if it occurred in a different stage of the life course, and why? 4.Explainin your own words what this exercise taught you about socialization. Reflect upon whether or not you were aware of the ways in which media is an agent of socialization in your life. What did you learn from the assignment? 5.Provide proper grammar, spelling, and citations. If you use an idea that is not your own you must provide a citation (MLA, APA, or ASA Style will be accepted). This includes your textbook! Using someone else’s idea without giving them credit is a form of plagiarism and therefore, cheating. Submit to Turnitin (available on Canvas) by August 15thby 11:59pm.
