Course Project: Write an Analytical Report
TASK: The UNO Alumni Association communicates with our alumni on a routine, regular basis. This presents a challenge because UNO alumni include people from different generations, all of whom have different communication preferences. You have been hired to research and prepare an analytical report on this general topic: Generational (Age-based) Differences in Communication Preferences. Your audience is the Alumni Board.
REQUIREMENTS:
The format for the written report is a based on an Analytical Report (See Ch. 14). REMEMBER: Analytical reports differ from strictly informational reports in that they focus on a problem or issue, provide information and data on it, and then go a step further by providing recommendations or suggested directions for future action. The basic outline of your analytical report must include these major sections:
• Title Page: Include report title, name of person/entity receiving report, preparer’s name, and date
• Introduction/Statement of Problem: Describe what you are investigating and why
• Purpose and Scope of Research: Discuss what you plan to do in your report and how you conducted your research
• Data Presentation: Present your research in an organized format
• Conclusions/Recommendations: Tell the Alumni Board what your conclusions and recommendations are based on your research
• References: Alphabetized list of sources using APA style
Visuals: Your report should also use at least one visual (tables, charts, graphs, images). Please see Chapter 9 in BCT and the Chapter 9 PowerPoints in Moodle for help with incorporating visuals in your report.
Length: The report should be approximately 8-10 pages, double-spaced. (This is a guideline, not a requirement.) Please use a readable font: text shouldn’t be very small or very large, or overly ornate. Use your judgement.
Due Date/Time: (Upload document in the “Course Project: Analytical Report” assignment window in Moodle)
Requirements for References:
• Minimum of three (3) references
• At least one (1) reference from a scholarly, academic, peer-reviewed journal
• APA in-text citation style used throughout, with a final References page
• PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION DIRECTLY! I will post all pertinent information on Moodle.
