Details: I am writing to appeal for reinstatement of my financial aid which was revoked due to my poor grades in semester range (Spring Jan 20, 2021 – March 12, 2021). First, I would like to bring to the notice of the committee the exact circumstances that led to my falling grades and resulted in the suspension of my scholarship. Firstly, I contracted covid-19 in March of 2020 and suffered from mild to serious symptoms in the time that followed. As is known that the long-term negative effects of the infection manifest themselves even after one has tested negative for the disease, I faced a similar situation. My age which is 60 years old as of now also contributed towards the post-covid complications like fatigue, insomnia, myalgia, dyspnea, and brain fog. I was unable to focus on my studies and fell behind my peers in accomplishing the milestones.
Secondly, I was juggling between two jobs alongside keeping abreast of the academic requirements. Both the jobs were full-time and required physical and mental excursion. I work as a first responder for the military which is a demanding job with a strict work schedule and forty hours of wok per week. My second job at a local hospital has been equally demanding, to say the least. I work for almost forty-eight hours and was still managing my other responsibilities. considering the uncontrolled situation of the pandemic for the past many months, the job has posed considerable challenges over the course of one year. I can safely say that I was burning the candle at both ends and this is what ultimately took a toll on me to make me stumble under the weight of responsibility. Eventually, I fell behind other students and in my frustration, I committed academic dishonesty by using someone else’s work and not giving them the due credit. I am aware that this misconduct reflects negatively on my character and ethics, but I assure you this was done only as a last attempt to retain the sanctity of my life. However, I am ashamed beyond words for what I have done and would request you to provide me a chance to prove my mettle and worth.
Action Plan:
Repeating the course JURI_520-B03 in which I previously earned an insufficient grade. I believe I deserve a second chance as the above-mentioned circumstances I had to undergo were unpredictable and inevitable. For now, I have reduced my work hours and am solely investing my time in studies to keep pace with my peers. My efforts are bearing fruit as is clear from my latest results. I have resumed the track and am now heading in the right direction. I have aced my previous course by making up for all the incomplete assignments and am now hoping to get an A and a B grade in the current courses. These two consecutive grades are proof of my dedication and efficient time management skills, and proactive approach to all my affairs. I would request the committee to consider my application and acknowledge the back-breaking efforts I have made to restore the semblance of normalcy.
