Please select a topic that we have covered so far in the course and write a 1-2 page discussion. You can choose from the following to focus on:

Identity and Identification
From Booth Babes to Fake Gamer Girls: Gendered Expectations and Interactions in Gaming (week
“Get Good”: Gendered Ideas of Skill and Different Levels of Access in Gaming
Perception, Understanding, and Hedging
Culture and Hostility (as broadly covered or in terms of a specific “type”)
If you notice overlap between topics, you can cover two in the paper.
In your discussion, make sure to use at least 3 major points from lecture and either readings or external videos to discuss the topic you have chosen. In some cases, you may be able to use all sources for material to discuss, but if you have a very specific focus, it may be more difficult to incorporate all of these sources. The primary goal is to show what you know about a specific discussion.
Make sure to cite where the information came from! How you do this is fairly flexible, but try to take up as little space as possible. You can use footnotes or parenthetical citations to make sure the focus of the paper is on your ideas. For example, that could look like this (Shaw 2009) or like this (week 3 lecture).
You can use external information (including outside articles), but if you do, please include a bibliography.
