1B. The
office of the national coordinator (ONC) created the SAFER guides to help
healthcare organizations conduct self-assessments to optimize the safety and
use of electronic health records in specific areas. These SAFER guides are intended
to be used by the interprofessional clinical informatics teams to optimize the
safe use of health information technology.
Choose one
SAFER guide and complete the checklist associated with the chosen guide.

one of the SAFER guides and complete the checklist portion of the guide.

If
you do not currently use an electronic health record, think of one that you
have used in the past (or as a nursing student).
o
If
unsure whether a recommended practice is implemented, click on the worksheet
link to review “Examples of potentially useful practices.” If you do not
think any of the examples exist in your health information system, then check “not
implemented.”
1C. Using the chosen SAFER guide and checklist, consider activities that should be included in a telehealth project plan Gantt chart to ensure safe use by the interprofessional clinical team.
Identify
one activity inspired from the SAFER guide that could be incorporated
into the Gantt chart for each of the SDLC phases (planning, analysis, design
and development, implementation, maintenance, monitoring and evaluation).
2A. Health information system use, functionality,
and payment are impacted by healthcare policies, legislation, and regulations. These impacts need to be analyzed when considering
activities for your Gantt chart.

one state or federal policy, legislation, or regulation impacting
telehealth.

your textbooks, essential readings from the course, online resources, and other
scholarly sources as needed.

a 3–5 sentence paragraph describing how the policy, legislation, or
regulation impact telehealth.
3A. Evaluating
user experience is done in the ANCC monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and
evaluating phase of the SDLC. User
experience (UX) is an umbrella term that incorporates human factors,
ergonomics, human-computer interaction, and usability. Essentially, ergonomics
is fitting the job to the worker.

Consider the ergonomics within your
home while doing schoolwork or your workplace. Evaluate how you use technology
and whether you achieve a neutral, comfortable working position by completing the
computer
workstation ergonomics self-assessment checklist (on the User Experience (UX) page in the course).

According
to the ergonomics checklist, write a 3–5 sentence paragraph describing the
chosen setting and which element(s) could be addressed to improve the
ergonomics in the chosen setting.
