As a professional, staying abreast of current literature is an important skill.  Being able to interpret that literature into real-world educational information is also an important skill.  This course requires intensive reading.  However, textbooks are typically 3-5 years behind the latest research.  As a result, you will need to be an avid consumer of more current research.  During this course and aligned with specific topics, you will be required to locate articles published in since 2020 in peer reviewed journals.  A descriptive or informative annotated bibliography is required for each of these journal articles (10 in total).  This is a cumulative assignment and will be submitted at the end of the semester.  However, if you have any questions about peer reviewed journals, you should ask those prior to selecting articles for review.
Additionally, these suggested topics also may be useful for you to consider as you refine your topic for your research paper.  Even though eight peer reviewed journal articles are required for that paper, only TWO of those may also be used in your annotated bibliography portfolio.  In other words, an annotated bibliography may only be submitted for two of the articles also appearing in your research paper.  All nine other annotated bibliographies should be on specific topics other than your research paper topic.
You may choose 10 from the following topics as they relate to Intellectual Disability.
