Prewrite
– Analyze the purpose of the message
– Anticipate the audience
– Adapt considering ways to present the message effectively;
and ask for feedback
Draft
– Research gathering necessary background information
– Organize the message determining if you should use a
direct or indirect approach
– Draft using an active voice, coherent paragraphs, and
transitions
Revise
– Edit your draft for parallelism, clarity, conciseness, and
format
– Proofread for accuracy in spelling, grammar, punctuation,
and format
– Evaluate ensuring your purpose, positive tone, and request
for feedback are achieved
