Change teams play an important role in organisational change management. They can be internal and external to an organisation. With reference to change teams and their role in change management of organisations, answer the following questions:
Part A (50%)
What types of teams are needed for designing and implementing organisation changes? What are the key characteristics required by a change team in contemporary organisations? How are change teams managed and led? Illustrate your answers with examples drawn from the literature and assess how these characteristics would help to minimise organisational resistance to change.
Part B (50%)
At an individual level, imagine you are a new member of a change team in an organisation, and you wish to develop your knowledge/skills further to lead change in the organisation.
Find out what skills/experiences are needed to become an internal change leader.
(Note: You may refer to job adverts published online to get an idea of the skills/experiences required. Useful material is available from Lecture 4 and Chapter 4 & 5 in Cameron and Green.)
• PLEASE use the book MAKING SENSE OF CHANGE MANAGEMENT By Esther Cameron and Mike Green when referencing relevant theory and models.
• 20 Academic references total (HARVARD STYLE)
• Evaluate your current skills/experiences against those needed for an internal change leader and identify any personal gaps (e.g., self-management, mindfulness, visionary motivator etc.).
• Explain how you intend to address the gaps identified.
• Understand theories and concepts of organisational change in relation to your own personal challenges of change and resilience.
• Conduct an insightful analysis of strengths/weaknesses, room for personal development etc. through self-reflection and assess your future career readiness.
• Undertake critical evaluation and present a succinct, reasoned, coherent argument.
