Use the Assignment Template when taking notes and responding to the questions. (Links to an external site.)Baldoni, Justin. “Why I’m done trying to be man enough.” TEDWomen, Nov. 2017, www. https://www.ted.com/talks/justin_baldoni_why_i_m_done_trying_to_be_man_enough.What do you believe is the purpose of this TED Talk, and why might this information be beneficial for men and women regardless of sexual orientation?

Discuss what you think is the most important message for viewers to take away from this TED Talk.
Both men and women experience the pressures of gender role expectations, but it is often said that men have more rigid gender roles than women. Provide a specific explanation and example of why you agree or disagree with this, but before answering, really explore the idea of a male stepping out of a male gender role into a female role and a female stepping out of a female role into a male role.

VIDEO #2: I’m the Scary Transgender Person the Media Warned You About (7:12)Watch this video on Rebekah Bruesehoff, a young transgender girl who tells her story and uses her voice to make a difference in the world.* Take notes on what stands out to you as important (at least three bullet points of information) and respond to the following reflection questions. Use the Assignment Template when taking notes and responding to the questions.‘I’m The Scary Transgender Person The Media Warned You About’ | MY TRANS LIFE (Links to an external site.)“‘I’m The Scary Transgender Person The Media Warned You About” | MY TRANS LIFE July 26 2017, www. Reflect on Rebekah’s experience. What stood out to you as important to know about a transgender person? What did you learn from her story?
It’s not uncommon for parents of LGBTQ+ children to feel fear for their children. What are some fears that a parent might experience? Contemplate the fears you listed and determine the basis of them. Particularly, are the fears a transgender issue or societal issue?

People across the globe are similar in that most desire to be loved and accepted. Consider this, a person who struggles with loving and accepting themselves experiences unhealthy self-esteem, which greatly impacts the quality of their life. If a person continuously receives the message—from those they know or complete strangers—that they are not lovable or acceptable because of their human sexuality (or any other reason), in what ways might this impact their well-being?
What might you say or do to empower someone to transcend the contempt of others so they can lead a healthy and happy life? Generalize this to any human who experiences self-inflicted disdain or disdain from others.
What is your viewpoint on what skills need to be developed at the individual level, parental/familial level, and societal level for people to be accepting of other people?

* To learn more about Rebekah, visit the Learning Resources section of this module where you will find her website.VIDEO #3: What It’s Like to be Intersex (3:25)Listen to the stories in this video of people who have what is called Differences of Sex Development (DSD). DSD, also referred to as disorders of sex development/differentiation, was previously identified as intersex. Explain your standpoint.

What stood out as particularly impactful to you and why?
If you were to share with others a main takeaway point from these interviews with intersex people, what would you want them to know?
VIDEO #4: Violence Against Women—It’s a Men’s Issue (17:28)Listen to this TED Talk by Jackson Katz as he challenges us to see domestic violence and sexual abuse as something other than “women’s issues.” By no means is this a man-bashing talk, but an educational recourse for men and women who are victims of domestic and sexual abuse. Take notes on what stands out to you as important (at least three bullet points of information) and respond to the following reflection questions. Use the Assignment Template when taking notes and responding to the questions.https://www.ted.com/talks/jackson_katz_violence_against_women_it_s_a_men_s_issue?language=en#t-169934 (Links to an external site.)Katz, Jackson “Why I’m done trying to be man enough.” TEDxFIDIWomen, Nov. 2012, www.ted.com/talks/jackson_katz_violence_against_wo…Reflect on your experience of this 17 ½ minute video. What was new or interesting information to you? What did you already know? How did you feel as you listened and why? Has your perception of domestic and sexual violence changed? If so, how, if not, why? What do you think people, males and females, should do to be leaders of change when it comes to domestic violence and sexual abuse? It is evident that both men and women can be perpetrators of violence and abuse, why do you think this talk focused on men? Write a reflection with a minimum of 150 words.
