U‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍niversity of Tasmania CNA342 -Assessment task 3 guidelines: clinical report Length: 1500 words, I can go up to 10% of word count, please do it as when I write, I always use it, so please do 1650 words. Assessment task 3: clinical report (50%) Specific Instructions provided by University bellow: There will be two ISBAR scenarios provided, with patient information and images. Please choose only one of these scenarios to focus on for your written report. (Personally, I prefer the RESPIRATORY scenario as fell more confident about it) There are three main focus areas for the written report:

1) Describe in detail the assessment of your chosen scenario (‘airway and breathing’ or ‘circulation’) of the acutely unwell child in the scenario;

2) Outline the likely findings from that assessment based on the information and images provided in the clinical scenario; and

3) Describe in detail the underlying pathophysiology related to the assessment findings (correlated with what is happening with the child). The assessment of the unwell child should cover the type of assessments you would undertake (and how you would undertake them for a child in that age), what you are likely to find based on the information provided in the clinical scenario ( it has to be adequate to the child age), and how these findings differ from the normal findings for that child if they were not unwell. The assessment should be relevant and specific to the child’s condition and developmental stage. The description of the underlying pathophysiology should directly relate to the assessment findings.

For example, if you were doing an airway assessment on a child with croup, you would describe the underlying pathophysiology causing the stridor that you can hear‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍. The description of the pathophysiology should be relevant and specific to the child’s condition and developmental stage. Assessment Criteria

1) Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of how to undertake an accurate assessment of an infant or child presenting with a respiratory or gastrointestinal condition (40%) For a HD grade: Presented a succinct, but detailed and accurate description of one aspect of the assessment (airway and breathing or circulation) that would be undertaken and the likely findings. Description of assessment and findings demonstrated comprehensive understanding of the child’s condition and developmental stage.

2)Demonstrates effective communication skills (20%) For a HD grade: Presented an excellent evidence-based discussion in academic style(sources and references should be within 5 YEARS OLD MAXIMUM), with a succinct, logical structure. Free from spelling, grammatical and/or terminology errors. Accurately used the Harvard referencing style throughout.

3)Demonstrates detailed understanding of the underlying pathophysiology associated with a common paediatric respiratory or gastrointestinal condition (40%) For a HD grade: Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of the underlying pathophysiology. Pathophysiology clearly linked to child’s condition and developmental stage. The rubrics for the assessment task provides more detailed information about the assessment criteria, I aim for Hight Distinction (HD) grade. Please look at the scenarios attached as well as the rubric, I’m sending also images of my workshop slides as they can assist you on the construction of this work. Please do not hesitate in msg me or call if necessary, or if you need further resources and assistance. Thank you ‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍so much!!
